Once I had made the decision to do an MBA the next step was to chose a school. Being based in Durban, the great schools in Cape Town and Gauteng were not an option for me. Given I wanted to get an MBA of the highest possible international standard- I chose the distance learning Edinburgh Business School MBA. The big downside to this choice was always going to be the lack of networking opportunities. After investigating what networking opportunities existed for the 500 odd South Africans who had completed/enrolled with EBS- I found that nothing really existed in South Africa. This was a big downside for me as I did not want to put all those thousands of hours of time into something and not be able to get full value at the end.

I was chatting to Melanie Sturmheit-the EBS South Africa representative about setting up/getting some sort of group together when she pointed me in the direction of your site. After spending some time going through it I realized that it filled exactly the need pointed out above- with the added bonus of being able to network not just with EBS MBA’s but all SA MBA’s. I now feel happier that my time investment in the MBA will be more worth it knowing that there is a portal like MBA-Connect out there to fulfill the needs which the course content itself cannot."
